This Winchester 12-Gauge Shotgun was also referred to as the Model 1897.
Manufactured from 1897 to 1957 this shotgun saw five wars involving U.S. Troops (Marines, Army, and Navy): The Philippine American War, World War 1, World War 2, Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
This shotgun had a hammer, mount for a bayonet attachment, tube fed 5-rounds of 2 3/4 inch shells, weight approximately eight pounds, had a 39.25 inch overall length, with a barrel length of 20 inches.
These were also popular by various police departments and hunters. Approximately 1,026,000 were made.
Killing range was approximately 22 yards (20 meters).
Norinco (Chinese firearms manufacturer) made a clone of this shotgun.
