So called Camel 'Apples' a.k.a. Camel Dung (poop) became a good luck charm for German Tank Crews in North Africa during World War 2. Essentially the allies discovered the German Tank crews like to run over the Camel Dung for good luck before going into battle. The allies then developed a land mine that destroyed tanks that looked just like Camel Dung. They would hide the mines inside real dung. It took awhile but the Germans quickly corrected the this error.
